The news from Sudan said that the defacto president since 1989, Ali Osman Taha is taking over the Darfur File with hope to bring peace very soon.
Well apparently peace means something different in the mind of this person who has been behind all the atrocities not only in Darfur but the whole contry. He started by harrassing the work of one of few Sudanese human rights organizations that actually succeeded in documenting the situation directly from Darfur.
The Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), the body that governs humanitarian agencies in Sudan, has ordered the suspension of the offices of Sudan Social Development Organization in al-Jeneina, capital of West Darfur State, and Zalingei, West Darfur State, as of 13 March 2005.
This suspension is the latest in a series of acts of intimidation and harassment against SUDO, including the arrest of five SUDO staff on 13 February 2006 at Ed Dain University, South Darfur, as they conducted a training session on human rights monitoring.
