DC is Declared a Torture-Free Zone

June 26, the United Nations International Day in Support of Torture Victims and Survivors, is commemorated annually by TASSC. This commemoration includes various events, including a 24-Hour Vigil, meetings with government and non-government officials and those held among survivors themselves, press conferences, etc.
On June 21, 2005, the DC Council voted unanimously to establish the District of Columbia as a Torture Free Zone!!
